Exteriors / December 2, 2021

When you hear the word ‘garage’, we are really sure that you will directly think about a particular spot in a residence where you can house vehicles, like bikes, motorcycles, cars, and others. The fact you must know is that not all only provide this housing function.

An example that we want to bring up as the main topic of this post is an RV garage with living quarters. What is it?

Just like the standard function of a garage, this one is also the same. The difference is that it is for housing a recreational vehicle.

Another difference is that it comes with living quarters. When a residential RV garage comes with this special feature, the space usually functions for guests, particularly those who sleepover, or a temporary living place.

Are you curious about how an RV garage with the special feature of living quarters looks like? Below, we have 5 excellent examples of it. Read further to know all of them and all the uniqueness included.

1. A Rustic RV Garage with a Guest Quarters and Complete Facilities

The first example that we want you to take a look at is the creation of Western Design International. It is a rustic RV garage that seems to be located in a valley with mountains as the view.

Just like the primary function, the first floor of this building is dominated by housing for the recreational vehicle. The exciting thing is that the main floor also functions as a shop and a space for hobbies.

For the design, the stained wood material makes the rustic impression even obvious. Besides, it is also suitable for the mountains and woods environments.

The exterior also comes with greyish green for the doors and trims. This hue adds a refreshing touch that, again, is matching with the environment really well.

On one side of the building, there is a stair. It connects the side door of the first floor to the second floor and the balcony area.

Although it is pretty high, a railing is included in the design. This element increases the safety value while going up and down.

Entering the second-floor area, you will see an open-style space with three main functions. Those are living, dining, and cooking. These are everything needed in the daily life of the guest while staying over.

In the interior of the guest quarters, some entertainment values are found too. For the details, there are old-style television and radio.

In the background, you can see a door connecting the interior and the balcony in which there are some seats. A place like this is perfect for enjoying the time when the weather's friendly or even at night.

This RV garage and guest quarters are also completed with a bedroom. However, we are not sure whether it is located on the first or on the second floor of the building.

This room is suitable for up to two occupants. It has simple yet comfortable elements and a color theme.

To complete everything, there is also a full bath included in the interior. It comes with a sink cabinet, a toilet, and a glass-surround shower room. It has everything needed to start every day freshly.

2. Workshop, Apartment, and RV Garage in the Same First-Floor Level

The living quarters feature that is in unity with an RV garage is not always located on the second floor above the vehicle housing. It can also be on the same first-floor level as you can see in this gorgeous grey, black, and white building by C. Hall Construction, Inc.

While most floor space seems to be used for the RV garage and workshop functions, it also has an apartment building, which amazingly has complete features to support a comfortable living.

Entering the building from the front door, we can see an open floor with large windows on one side. We know that in the picture, there is no furniture piece seen. However, a space like this is perfect for combining living and dining areas together.

If seen from the other side of the room, we can see a door right next to the front entrance. The fact that it has an entry indicates that it could be for a place that needs extra privacy, such as a bedroom.

In the open floor space, there is another detail that we love the most. It is none other but the open kitchen.

It is not just a small one. It is a full-size kitchen. It even comes with complete base and wall cabinets, a dishwasher, a standard sink, a cooker, and a microwave.

For completion, you must know that the fascinating living quarters also come with a full bath. Although the room is relatively narrow, it does not seem to lose any comfort value.

The arrangement of each element here is fascinating so that every function is obtainable regardless of the limited space.

At one end, we can see that there is an enclosed shower. A toilet is concealed with a wall so that it is not fully seen from the sink area.

This picture shows that the full bath also comes with a double sink instead of the single one. It seems this place can also function as a restroom because of the existence of this plumbing fixture.

3. Dream Eclectic Bunk Living Quarters with an RV Garage

This bunkhouse and RV garage by 360 Construction & Design has everything you can dream of about a holiday home. From the outside, it may look relatively small and limited. However, once you enter it, you will know the reasons why we said so.

The guest quarters on the second floor bring an open style. At one of its ends, there is a set of bunk beds to accommodate up to four people.

Right next to it is a dining table set with four chairs. It is placed right in front of a window where beautiful scenery can be seen, making it a perfect spot for enjoying breakfast.

There is a living area in the center of the open floor with two sofas and a coffee table. We love how there are also windows here, giving a more open feeling to the relatively small interior.

From this point of view, we can also see a restroom with a rustic sliding barn door and a master bedroom dominated with red at the very end of the guest quarters.

Still, in the living area, we can see a television included for entertainment value. Right below it, there is a wet bar making the place perfect for adult dwellers.

Here is a sneak peek at the public restroom door we saw in an earlier picture. There are no other pictures of its interior shared, but there may be a toilet at the other end of this room. If that is so, it is then suitable to call it a powder room.

An addition like this boosts the convenience when spending time in the living area. It is especially when there are some guests over.

Other than the powder room, this living quarters also has a ¾ bathroom. Something unique about it is that it is accessible from both the hallway and the master bedroom.

The existence of two entrances here makes it more convenient for all occupants to access the bathroom area. As shown in the pic, there is even a double-sink that would be perfect for kids to brush their teeth together.

As a ¾ bathroom, the room does not only come with a double sink and a toilet. As you can see in the picture, it also has a shower room.

We love the choice of a glass door here because it does not make the room look cramped. At the same time, it also prevents water from splashing all over the place and creating some mess.

For perfection, the guest quarters also have a gym room on the lower floor. All the equipment included there is more than enough to maintain the health value while staying over.

The gym area is also connected to a private spa that is perfect for relaxation. This room even has a large window facing the stunning, natural scenery outside for an even better quality time.

This RV garage and living quarters have everything we need for a fun, comfortable, and convenient stay.

4. Traditional Timber RV Garage and Workplace with Living Quarters Above

Are you looking for rustic inspiration for an RV garage that is also completed with living quarters? If yes, this creation of DC Builders might be the one you need.

As shown in the picture above, this detached garage comes with two vehicle doors. One is made taller to fit the common characteristic of an RV.

The exterior is dominated by timber, cedar siding to be precise. It emits a relatively strong rustic impression because of it.

At the back, you can see that the second floor of the building comes with a balcony. A feature like this can complete upper floor living quarters, adding an alternative living area to the limited space.

From this view, we can see that two garage doors are precisely the same as the ones shown in the front part. While those are functional for vehicle access, there are still double-opening swing doors on one side of the building providing a more convenient entrance for humans.

The interior of the RV garage is quite spacious, and it can accommodate up to three cars. This area also functions as a workspace, FYI.

There is a curved staircase accessible from the garage interior to connect the first and second floors. There are two details about this element that catches our attention the most; log steps and decorative iron railing.

There is also a corrugated metal surround with a combination of copper and black color to complete the staircase design. It excellent matches the rustic design of the building.

The second floor of the RV garage, which also functions as the living quarters, is in an open style. As you can see from the picture, the door at the end leads to the balcony area in one of the previous pictures.

In the corner, you can see that there is a wet bar. It makes the place even more excellent for a temporary dwelling.

5. Versatile Large RV Garage with Apartment Above

Last but not least, this RV garage that is completed with living quarters in the design is made by Barn Pros. This detached building is not only functional for housing an RV or other vehicle but is also versatile enough for other necessities.

From the exterior design, we can see that the color scheme is fantastic. The most dominant hue comes from the wood siding. Besides, the black color of the garage doors, beams, and exterior trims give such a beautiful contrast to the building. For perfection, there are grey roof shingles at the very top.

This is how the garage looks when the tall doors are opened. While one side is clearly functional for housing a vehicle, including when the type is an RV, the homeowners use the other side for storage. It is where the versatile value comes from.

The primary function of this RV garage and living quarters is guest accommodation, including when there is a family gathering. The existence of extra space in the garage is very beneficial since various items can be stored there.

One example that you can see in this picture is golfing equipment. Right behind that, you can also see other items for kids playing.

Upstairs, there is an open space in which three different room functions are in touch without being separated by the walls. These include the kitchen area, dining, and living room.

At the back, you can see that there are two rooms with sliding barn doors. The functions of those rooms are not shown clearly. However, they can be bedrooms.

We do love how the kitchen area gains enough natural light from the gorgeous single-hung windows. The choice of wood countertop does match not only the grey cabinets but also other wood elements in the interior.

When talking about the appliances included there, it is pretty complete for living quarters. As you can see, this kitchen has a side-by-side refrigerator, microwave, cooker, and dishwasher. All those are enough for a comfortable stay.

To complete everything, there is also an island with stools. It functions not only as a place for preparation but also as an alternative breakfast table.

Just like the kitchen area, the dining table also gets enough sunlight from the sun. The long table here is enough to accommodate up to eight people at once.

We love the choices of decorations placed here, including the oversized wall clock, the hanging lamp, and the potted grass. Especially for the centerpiece, we love how it matches the natural atmosphere resulting from the domination of wood elements there.

Not all pictures of the bedrooms in the living quarters are shared. However, this one, which seems to be the master bedroom, seems enough to imagine how the interior of each room in the building more or less looks like.

Just like the open-stile area we talked about previously, we can still see a dominant wood siding material here. Together with simple decorating, it creates a warm and comfortable atmosphere for a night of quality sleep.

This bedroom also has windows, making it possible to enjoy the outside view right from the bed. There is nothing better than seeing natural scenery when you open your eyes in the morning, right?

Lastly, we want you to take a look at this bathroom vanity. Everything included in the design boosts the elegance of the interior.

We specifically love the pairing between the table-style vanity. It becomes the element that matches all other wooden detailing in the whole building.

Closing

From the five examples of RV garage with living quarters that we have shared in this post, there is one similarity found. It is a fact that vehicle housing can also serve another function to expand the space for living.

In this case, we are not only talking about the second floor but also the one located on the same level as the RV garage. As you can see above, there is an example where the living quarters are also located on the first floor.

The sure thing is that creating an RV garage design with extra space for staying is just incredible. It functions when there are some guests over and when there is not enough space available for all the residence’s occupants.

So, if you have an RV, are you interested in building this kind of garage to park it?
